From Europe—a conscious choice

Collaborating with partners in Europe allows us to do more than just shorten supply chains. It enables us to support local workshops, ensure quality standards, and reduce the environmental impact of long-distance transportation. Working with nearby partners also helps us build strong, trusting relationships based on transparency and shared values within the European community.

When you buy a Gusti bag made in these workshops, you’re supporting people who love what they do and who craft their products with special care in a region where leatherworking is a way of life.

Our Italian Artisans: Tradition, Trust, and Thoughtful Design

In the Florence region, known for its rich history of leatherworking, our partners have been handcrafting leather accessories for over a decade. These are not mere production facilities; they are workshops run by a talented couple of artisans who view bag-making as a true craft—not just a process.

Their workshops are small and collaborative, where both artisans are personally involved in every stage of the creative process. From the first cut of the leather to the final stitch, their attention to detail is unmatched. While machines ensure consistency in the structure, the character of each individual piece shines through in the finishing touches, many of which are done entirely by hand. Edge painting, handle design, and final inspections are all part of a slower, more deliberate process that honors quality and tradition.

A Commitment to Timeless Leather

The leather we use is exclusively Cowhide leather, selected for its quality and versatility. Each bag’s style is paired with the perfect texture and finish—from the soft, textured elegance of Dollaro leather, a surface-finished leather that ranks just below full-grain leather in quality. It is produced by lightly sanding the outermost layer of the hide, making it thinner and more flexible while still offering excellent strength and durability. Then there’s the velvety surface of Suede/Camoscio leather, a split leather made from the inner layers of the hide, prized for its soft, matte feel. Laminato leather is a split leather with a metallic or glossy laminated coating that gives it a distinctive sheen while remaining light and supple. In contrast, Ruga and Box leathers are surface leathers with a stiffer, smoother, and more refined finish, ideal for structured bags that exude elegance and retain their shape. Each leather is carefully selected to suit the function and character of the design, ensuring the perfect balance between beauty, strength, and character.

All leathers are chrome-tanned to ensure flexibility, strength, and long-lasting color. This process not only increases the leather’s durability but also allows us to offer it in a variety of stylish colors that guarantee versatility for many years to come. Our leather products are designed to be worn with a wide variety of outfits and to retain their appeal and functionality over time. What truly sets our approach apart: We create products that last a lifetime.

General Tips for Leather Care:

  • Regular Moisturizing: All types of leather—whether smooth, grained, or suede—benefit from the regular use of leather care products to keep them supple and prevent them from drying out.
  • Avoid moisture: Moisture can damage all types of leather, especially suede and laminated leather. Always use water-repellent products before first use and with every maintenance session.
  • Proper storage: When you’re not using your leather items, store them in a cool, dry place. Use cotton protective covers to prevent dust and deformation.
